Are you feeling bloated all the time and always tired?
You know the feeling and it makes you stressed and moody because you don’t know how to solve it exactly. You’re always tired. You don’t have the energy to do the things you want to do. You want to spend time with your family. You want to eat that food you’ve been craving of. And you want to do activities that will keep your health.
You just can’t. You’re too worried that if you eat that food, it will continue to make you feel bloated. Besides, you don’t have the energy, you’re in constant fatigue.
How often do you hear yourself complain about bloating? Even if you hit the gym daily, eat your vegetables and keep yourself hydrated, there it is, an unwanted bloated belly. Let’s get to the bottom of this. Why are you so bloated? OVERBURDENED LIVER Bloating and undigested food are signs that the liver is overburdened, and a liver under stress will not only affect bile production, but also cause toxins to leak out into the intestines for reabsorption. Increased toxins in the intestines then results in conditions like SIBO from an overgrowth of the streptococcus bacteria. This chain reaction only weakens the liver and bile further, causing more bloating. SUGAR You may think you’re buying and eating all the right foods but it’s time to check again. Nowadays, we are all aware of the traffic light system when looking out for the nutrition information on the food we buy – red means high fat or sugar, orange is moderate and green is low. For a flatter tummy, avoid shop bought juices or smoothies by making your own at home. Where cereals are concerned, check the ingredients or stick to oats. EATING TOO MUCH FRUIT, LEGUMES AND LENTILS Although these are healthy options, some don’t realise that too much can be tough on your system, especially if it’s not used to it. Instead of fibre helping assist with bowel movements, overdoing it could do the opposite. Increased amounts of fibre may lead to a compromised and over loaded digestive system, causing constipation, flatulence, cramping and stomach upset, which won’t help with bloating issues. FOOD INTOLERANCE It can be unclear why a person is sensitive to certain foods. Symptoms of food intolerance include tummy pain, bloating, wind/gas or diarrhoea and certainly unexplained bloating. If you think this may be the reason for your bloating try switching to a vegan protein or other lactose-free alternatives. WARM WEATHER When the weather tends to heat up, fluid retention can lead to an excessive build-up of fluid in the circulatory system. This fluid retention tends to affect the ankles and legs but can also affect the abdomen, leading to bloating. To help this, make sure you stay hydrated by drinking two to three litres of water a day. If it’s been particularly hot or you have been doing lots of exercise try and up this to four litres of water a day. How can you stop your bloating? 1. Reduce the amount of high-fat, high-protein foods you eat. Whether you eat a plant based or or animal foods diet, too much fat and protein will only result in more bloating and digestive issues eventually. 2. Fresh leafy greens that are rich in essential mineral salts. Butter leaf lettuce, red leaf lettuce, romaine lettuce, and spinach are all excellent options. Sprouts, kale, cucumbers, zucchini, broccoli, and asparagus are all healing foods for bloating. 3. Fruits are incredible for healing bloating. Papaya, bananas, figs, pears, kiwi, apples, and apricots are excellent choices for bloating. 4. Add fiber slowly. Healthy fiber-rich foods can help you to feel full. Add them to your diet slowly. 5. Have a little fermented food 6. Have a cup of Thyme tea Thyme tea is a great purifying herb for the digestive tract and is also essential for urinary tract health and can help prevent infections and keep healthy bacteria in balance. Thyme has some of the highest antioxidant levels among herbs. It is packed with bioflavonoids such as lutein, zeaxanthin, and naringenin which have powerful effects on eliminating free-radicals and other disease producing substances from the body. Boil some fresh thyme and drink hot or cold. The only way to truly resolve bloating in long term is to learn real truths about what’s really behind this symptom, the root cause, and take the correct steps to heal it. Now that you have the truth in your hands, it is not something you have to get used to living with forever. There is always the possibility of some serious medical condition, and diagnosing digestive problems can be complicated. However, in many cases, bloating can be reduced — or even eliminated — with simple changes in diet.
